mixed-media sculpture-based-drawings
Often working the sculptural compositions in a painterly approach has led me to a body of work collaging photographic details of my 3-D work with hand-drawn elements to create a new body of 2-D work.
These pieces are abstract landscapes or masses that seem to float in ambiguous space. As in my sculpture, the layering is dense and flowing with vivid colors. The print-outs are hand-cut and arranged, sometimes populated with found images of statues or synchronized swimmers.
