Hurtling-Mixed Media installation by Alicia Renadette
Hurtling
2021

Inspired by telescopic images of asteroid belts and microscopic views of environmental particulates, I’ve used peripheral fragments of my Earthly environment to form a stage-set of airborne masses with unknowable consequences.

Elements are made from Styrofoam packaging, screen, house paint, disassembled artificial flowers, cocktail swords and umbrellas, household sponges, air-dried clay, and other mixed media. Objects range from 1 - 30 inches and hang at various heights and distance from the wall.

Pictured as installed at Jamestown Art Center, RI on a wall alongside an ascending stairway and a descending ramp was viewable from underneath, alongside, and above.
